Charm-ing Suncatchers
- Prep time: 5 Minutes
- Total time: 1 Hour
Give your windows a makeover with these magical suncatchers. Both kids and adults will have fun making their favorite shape and hanging it in the brightest window.
Supplies
- Black construction paper or card stock
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Tissue paper: Light Pink/Red (heart charm), Yellow & Orange (shooting star charm) and Light blue, yellow and light pink (rainbow charm)
- Adhesive contact paper or Press n’ Seal™ plastic wrap
- Glue stick
Steps
- Gather the supplies.
- Break down cereal boxes so they lay flat on the table. Using the larger areas of the front and back panels of the box, draw charm shapes. You will be cutting out the inner core of the shape, so make sure to draw a nice thick border. Cut them out and set aside.
- Cut the contact paper slightly larger than the charm shapes. *NOTE: Do not adhere contact paper to cut charm shapes until step 5.
- Peel the backing off the contact paper cutouts and place onto your work surface, sticky side up. Arrange the tissue paper onto the sticky side of the contact paper. *NOTE: you can place the cut charm shape behind the contact paper to help guide you with placement of the tissue paper.
- Use the glue stick to add a line of glue around the border of the construction paper charms, then place the other side of the contact paper on top to seal it.
- Allow the glue to dry, then cut off any excess tissue paper around the edges.
